The Project for Household Waste Separation "O-DVA-JA-MO" was presented at the "Drina Regatta" in Bajina Bašta
to 24th, during the traditional Drina Regatta, the project "O-DVA-JA-MO", implemented by the Ministry of Environmental Protection of the Republic of Serbia, with the support of the European Union and the Embassy of Sweden, was presented to the citizens of Bajina Bašta and the visitors of this event. During the concerts organized on Friday and Saturday in Rača, the audience had the opportunity to officially start separating waste at the source by placing empty cans and PET bottles in the designated blue bins.
The Project for Household Waste Separation "O-DVA-JA-MO" aims to inform citizens about the benefits of separating household waste, in order to later successfully recycle materials, reduce quantities of waste going to landfills, and therefore protect the environment and health.
"Currently in Serbia, the recycling rate of household waste is less than 2%, while the average recycling rate of municipal waste in the European Union is 48%." EU waste policy aims to contribute to the circular economy by extracting high-quality resources from waste as much as possible. Actions like these are important for cleaning the rivers, for raising the awareness of people about where waste ends up if we don't dispose of it properly." said Mr Antoine Avignon, Program Manager for Environment and Climate Action of the European Union Delegation to Serbia.
The Project for Household Waste Separation “O-DVA-JA-MO” is taking place in 17 municipalities in Serbia, which will improve their waste management system through this project, and through the investments of the European Union, the Embassy of Sweden and the Ministry of Environmental Protection has supplied 26 waste collection vehicles, over 90,000 bins and containers, as well as insight study and the public awareness campaign. The communication campaign and technical support for the Project for Household Waste Separation is carried out by Pomilio Blum, in cooperation with the local partner New Moment New Ideas Company.
