EU is supporting Serbia in battle against coronavirus

The European Union has donated EUR 93 million for battling the Covid-19 virus in March of 2020. Once again, the European Union has shown to Serbia that it is her faithful partner when it is most necessary.

The European Union has donated EUR 15 million as the immediate reaction, which was necessary for facing the epidemic. Over EUR 7 million has been allocated just for the transport of medical equipment in 12 cargo planes. Apart from this, the European Union has financed the purchase of medical equipment for the medical staff and the population, such as protective masks, tests, containers for triage and emergency care, oxygen concentrators, thermometers and other equipment of fundamental importance in the battle against Covid-19.

The EU has also secured aid in the amount of EUR 800,000 for vulnerable groups, such as the Roma, senior citizens, migrants and vulnerable women. Lastly, EUR 567,000 has been donated to the border control at four locations, including additional tents with the necessary equipment.

The remaining funds (EUR 78 million) will be directed towards the revival of small and mid-sized businesses, as well as to employment, in cooperation with Serbian authorities.
