Cross-Border Cooperation (CBC) Serbia - Croatia

Interreg Co-operation Programme Croatia-Serbia 2014-2020 is focused on four priorities: improving social and health services, protecting the environment and biodiversity, and improving risk prevention and promoting sustainable energy and energy efficiency, development of tourism and preserving cultural and natural heritage, and boosting competitiveness in the border area.

On the Serbian side, the programme covers 5 districts on north-west of Serbia: North Bačka, West Bačka, South Bačka, Srem and Mačva district. On the Croatian side, the programme includes 4 counties on the north-east of Croatia: Osijek-Baranja, Vukovar-Srijem, Brod-Posavina and Požega-Slavonia counties. This area is home to about 2.3 million people.

The overall programme co-financing of the EU to the budget is EUR 34 million. By the end of 2019, 43 projects have been funded. Some of these are: tourism development in the Central Danube region, new products in fruit production industry on both sides of border, managing of agricultural waste, reconstructions of schools in Croatia and Serbia in line with energy efficiency standards, common gastro, eco and recreation routes, cross-border monitoring systems for flood risks, etc.
