Climate change and youth – who will win the race?

To mark the Green Diplomacy Week, the Pulse of Europe – Media Trips to EU project and Environmental Ambassadors for Sustainable Development NGO organise a panel and a debate club entitled “Climate change and youth – who will win the race”? that will be held in Belgrade, on 27 October 2023. The panel will gather representatives of the EU Delegation to Serbia, climatologists, civil society organisations and youth, which all will be trying to present the state of play regarding the efforts to fight climate change in both Europe and Serbia. The panellists will be Antoine Avignon, Programme Manager at the EU Delegation to Serbia, Irida Lazić, meteorologist and Aleksandra Mladenović, president of the Environmental Ambassadors for Sustainable Development NGO.

In its second part, the event will be held in the form of a debate club: two groups of high school students (from the International School in Belgrade, 7th Belgrade High School and three Eco-schools) will cross their arguments around the topic “youth is actively contributing the fight against climate change”. The debate club should enlighten positions of youth towards the topic as well as to be the opportunity for them to present what they did or plan to do to the cause. The debate will be held with a moderation of Jovan Milutinović, 7th grade pupil of Drinka Pavlović Elementary School and winner of this year international debate organised by TSL and  Marina Drndarski, biologist.

The event will also be an opportunity for the audience to be acquainted with the data about the climate change efforts in EU countries, gathered by Serbian journalists during media trips organised by the Pulse of Europe project.
