Conference "Development of Decision Support Systems" held

The conference "Development of Decision Support Systems" was held at the Mona Plaza Hotel in Belgrade on January 30 and 31, 2025, on the occasion of launching of the project "EU4SORS - Development of a Modern Statistical System", which the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia is implementing with the financial support of the European Union, within the IPA 2022 program. This project aims to improve the capacity of the Statistical System of Serbia to provide advanced analytical solutions, as well as further strengthen statistics as a key partner in creating policies based on reliable and comprehensive data.

The conference brought together the representatives of statistical institutions from the region, representatives of state administration and local self-government, the academic community, associations and public enterprises.

The Decision Support System is an integrated platform that connects institutions, employers and citizens for the purpose of collecting, analysing and publishing data. This platform will provide the access to timely data in one place, on the basis of which stakeholders such as state institutions, local self - governments, educational and scientific institutions, employers, citizens and associations can download and analyse data and further on, improve the decision – making process.

The development of the decision support systems aims at meeting the needs of institutions, employers and citizens for data that will improve the decision-making process, such as data on business trends, the market, employees, the unemployed, salaries, qualifications, and data on demographic trends.

This system will bring beneficial changes to society because it allows, based on the available data, to:

  • conduct statistical, macroeconomic and market analyses,
  • conduct analyses on the impact of migration on the labour market,
  • gain insight into the skills available to the labour force,
  • gain insight into the level and structure of labour demand,
  • build a central register of advertised jobs as a unique tool for employers and job seekers.

Data from this system will enable:

  • government institutions to create policies based on timely data,
  • employers to identify the market needs,
  • educational institutions to adapt educational programs to the real labour market needs,
  • citizens to, based on the data, make decisions about their careers, education, and employment.
