One of the greatest benefits that the European Union brings to all young people, regardless of their country of origin, is the opportunity to study at prestigious European universities. Being a student in Berlin, Madrid, Paris or some other European city, thanks to the European Union's programmes in education for young people from Serbia, is no longer a fantasy, but a real possibility.

Programmes in education are divided into those that involve student exchange in a period of one or two semesters and those that relate to the entire master's programme at one of the European universities.

The Erasmus Programme is intended for student mobility. It was created in 1987, and it includes student exchange between European universities. This programme is today called Erasmus+. Last year, the European Commission decided to extend the duration of the project until 2027. A budget of never more than 26 billion euros has been approved for the new cycle.

Since 2019, Serbia has had the status of a programme country, together with the countries of the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Northern Macedonia and Turkey.

Part of this programme, in addition to semester exchanges, also relates to the entire master's studies through the Erasmus Mundus Programme. The programme is designed so that one-year or two-year master's studies are completed at several European universities. At the end of the programme, you receive a double or multiple degree issued by the universities where the student spent part of his studies.

In addition to studies and study exchanges, the Erasmus Plus Programme also includes internships lasting from 6 to 12 months. Apart from students, those who have completed their studies can also apply for this type of exchange, but no later than within one year from the day of graduation.

In addition to these programmes, the European Union provides an opportunity for young entrepreneurs as well. The goal is for young people to spend some time in a company abroad. The programme lasts from one month to six months, and the aim is to give young people a chance to develop their business idea as well as to gain business experience.

Apart from these programmes, the EU also offers programmes for youth exchanges, cultural exchanges, volunteering, temporary work, as well as studies through programmes of member state governments (DAAD, Visegrad Fund, CEEPUS).
