If you are an amateur who does sports and you want to be a part of Europe, the European Union has designed a support programme for you as well. Within the Erasmus+ Programme in the field of sports, the EU encourages the development of the European dimension in sports, especially amateur sports.

The new generation of the Erasmus+ Programme (2021-2027) promotes the mobility of sports staff for the purpose of cooperation, learning, inclusion, raising quality, creativity and innovation at the level of sports organizations and sports policies.

In the sports component of the Erasmus + Programme, the emphasis is on the international projects that deal with the inclusion of the general population in sports and physical activities, the promotion of healthy lifestyles among all generations.

Also, the goal is to raise the level of participation in physical activities that serve to maintain and improve health. This sports part of the programme also aims to promote integrity and values ​​in sport, help education, raise awareness of volunteering and enable coaches, managers and others from non-profit sports organisations to share their experience with European partners.

One of the goals is to fight against negative phenomena in sports, such as violence, racism, intolerance and discrimination.

Every year, until March, those who are interested can submit project proposals in the field of sports. This year's budget amounted to 51,9 million euros, and refers to four areas: Partnerships for Cooperation in the field of sports, Small-scale Partnerships in the field of sports, Capacity Building in the field of sports and non-profit European sporting events.

From next year, 2023, the calls related to mobility in sports will be open as well.

Project applicants can be public and private organisations and institutions in the field of sports, and they can also participate in the projects as partners.
