Summary
Civil society has an essential role in influencing public sector reform processes and promoting deeper understanding about EU accession implications on citizens' lives.
Through the Civil Society Facility programme, the EU supports anchoring democratic values and structures, human rights, social inclusion and the rule of law. Civil society assistance reflects two main goals: environment that is conducive to civil society activities and building the capacity of CSOs to be effective and accountable independent actors. Support was provided to effectiveness of the Serbian CSOs with initiatives focused on Chapters 23 and 24, regional cooperation and civil society participation in negotiations and policy monitoring in Serbia.
