Summary
112 is the emergency number in EU member states and other countries. People in danger can call 112 24/7 to reach the fire brigade, medical assistance and the police. The European emergency number is free and can be reached by landlines as well as mobiles.
Safety and security of citizens in emergency situations need to be enhanced in accordance with international and EU standards. The 112 system maximises mutual coordination of existing emergency services and efficient use of resources.
The project will create the necessary conditions for establishment of a 112 emergency call response system in Serbia. It will thoroughly analyse the existing organisational, technical, administrative, legislative, functional structures of emergency systems currently in use and recommend necessary requirements and ways for introduction of the 112 system in Serbia.
