EU for Serbia - Support to the High Judicial Council

Summary

The High Judicial Council is a key institution for maintaining independence, impartiality, accountability, professionalism and efficiency of the judicial system. 

The EU supports improved efficiency, accountability and transparency of the judicial system by assisting the High Judicial Council with its increasing tasks and responsibilities. 

The project activities include strengthening financial management and overall management capacities of the Council to monitor and manage courts in their daily operations, developing mechanism for career development of judges as well as clear rules for division of labour between judges. It also improves the effectiveness of disciplinary proceedings and responsibilities which prevent abuse of judicial independence.
