Organised crime is a threat to citizens, businesses, state institutions and economy as a whole. Better results in detection, prosecution and combating organised crime will be achieved through improved efficiency of institutions, record keeping, exchange of information at the national and international level and further promotion of regional and international cooperation.
The "National Centralised Criminal Intelligence System - NCIS" is needed for fight against organised and other forms of crime,. Through this project, the EU supports development of this safe communication platform between law enforcement and judicial authorities in charge of the fight against organised crime. The project will supply ICT and security equipment, software solutions and analytical tools and boost efficient application of Intelligence Led Policing (ILP) concept. Criminal analysis (including crime mapping), investigation process and reporting capacities will be strengthened, and the Ministry of Interior will get support to achieve the EUROPOL security standards and working conditions in order to strengthen international cooperation in the fight against cross border crime.
