Summary
EU will provide legal aid, assistance and information to IDPs, refugees from the wars of the 1990s and returnees under Readmission Agreements related to their protection and access to rights.
The target population has difficulties in exercising their rights (related to property, non-discrimination, health, education, employment and social welfare), due to displacement, lack of financial resources and lengthy/inefficient procedures. Legal aid/assistance offices will be established (in Belgrade and areas with high concentrations of IDPs/refugees and returnees), with competent legal officers, experienced in providing free legal aid, to ensure representation before relevant institutions and assistance in collecting documents.
Along with new cases, they will continue to represent parties with old cases from previous legal aid projects. A precise database of legal cases will be managed, including the cases opened during previous legal aid/assistance projects.
